What are CSV files and why use them?

CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files are a simple way banks export your transaction history. Instead of manually entering each transaction one by one, you can import days of transactions in just seconds!

📋 How to Import Bank Transactions:

Log into your online banking
Access your bank's website or app (Most of the time CSV files can only be accessed via the website)

Find transaction export
Look for "Export," "Download," or "Statements" options

Select CSV format
Choose CSV file format (not PDF or other formats)

Choose date range
We recommend 1-2 months for best performance

Open Budget Goal Tracker
Go to Settings → Import Bank Statements

Select your CSV file
The app will automatically detect your bank format

Review and customize
Edit merchant names, categories, and remove unwanted transactions

Import complete!
All transactions are now in your budget tracker

🔧 Troubleshooting

CSV Import Issues

File not recognized: Ensure you're using CSV format, not PDF or Excel files
No transactions found: Check that the CSV file contains transaction data, not just headers
Wrong format detected: Try manually selecting your bank format in the import screen
File too large: Split large files into smaller chunks (1-2 months recommended)

App Performance

Slow loading: Consider archiving old transactions if you have thousands of entries
Storage issues: Use the data export feature to backup and then clear old data
Sync issues: Your data is stored locally, so reinstalling will remove all data unless backed up
